22/03  20/12/2003  Launch 17:40   Remoored 19:30   Weather NW 5-6  Sea Moderate Vis. 3 miles   Crew: Ian Sheridan (Cox), Peter O'Shea, Eolan Walsh, Máire Scanlon, Kieran Lynch, Brian Motyer, Orla Lynch, Laura McLeod.

Rendered assistance with the MFV "Rosses Fisher" whose engine was overheating 2 miles south of Capel Island.  Secured a tow and proceeded to Ballycotton.  Ready for service again at 19:30. 

 

21/03    03/09/2003    Launch 14:30   Remoored 19:05   Weather S to SW 2 Slight Sea Good vis.  Crew: Ian Sheridan (Cox), Michael L Walsh, Redmond L Walsh, Máire Scanlon, Aidan Sliney, Kieran Lynch.

Launched to the aid of the MFV "Stephen Anthony" 19 miles east of Ballycotton with engine problems.  Secured a tow and proceeded to Helvick Head, where we were met by Helvick Lifeboat who took over the tow, due to depth restrictions in Helvick Harbour.  Arrived back at Station at 18:40 and ready for service at 19:05.

 

20/03     29/08/2003    Launch 15:45    Remoored 21:30   Weather E to SE 4 Mod sea Good vis.      Crew: Ian Sheridan (Cox), Michael L Walsh, Redmond L Walsh, Máire Scanlon, Aidan Sliney,  Stephen Connolly, Kieran Lynch, Brian McNamara, Colm O'Riordan.

Launched to the aid of the yacht "Arctic Fox" 19 miles SSW of the station with steering failure. Secured tow at 4 knots whilst emergency steering set up and then towed to Crosshaven at 7 knots. Arrived back at station at 21:00 and ready for service at 21:30

 

19/03    28/08/2003     Launch 19:47    Remoored 20:00   Weather E to SE 3-4 Mod sea good vis      Crew: Ian Sheridan (Cox), Michael L Walsh, Redmond L Walsh, Máire Scanlon, Aidan Sliney, Eolan Walsh, Peter O'Shea, Francis McMahon, Stephen Connolly.

Launched by Valentia Radio to small open boat (Duggy 1) in danger of being swept onto rocks due to engine failure 1/2 mile from the harbour. On arrival the auxiliary engine had been started and was steering away from the rocks. LB escorted the casualty into harbour. Arrived back at station at 19:52 and ready for service at 20:00

 

18/03    20/08/2003     Launch 15:10    Remoored 16:45   Weather S/SW f 3-4 good vis choppy sea.  Crew: Ian Sheridan (Cox), Michael L Walsh,  Máire Scanlon,  Aidan Sliney, Eolan Walsh, Padraig Finn, Neil McCarthy (from div base)

Report of a small angling boat two hours overdue with 4 POB. Located boat 1/2 mile from Ballycotton with engine failure. secured tow to harbour. Arrived back at station at 16:19 and ready for service at 16:45.

 

17/03    06/08/2003    Launch 15:52    Remoored 17:55   Weather S f 1-3 good vis sea slight              Crew: Ian Sheridan (Cox), Redmond L Walsh, Colm O'Riordan, Brian McNamara, Aidan Sliney,   Kieran Lynch.

Launched to aid the angling vessel "John Boy" 4m S of Roches Point with a person suffering a suspected Heart attack. Rescue helicopter 115 also scrambled as the " John Boy" made for Cobh. On reaching Cobh, Rescue 115 winched the casualty from the "John Boy" and onwards to hospital. The LB was stood down and Arrived back at station at 17:30 and ready for service at 17:55.

 

16/03    31/07/2003  Launch 11:25     Remoored 13:00   Weather SW F 3-4 fog sea slight                 Crew: Ian Sheridan (Cox), Michael L Walsh, Redmond L Walsh, Máire Scanlon, John Roberts, Aidan Sliney, Eolan Walsh, Kieran Lynch.

Launched to search for missing person in Ballycotton bay area. Station D class boarding boat searched inshore and the AW Trent searched offshore. Contacted at 12:15 by Coastguard to report missing person found by CG units. Arrived back at station at 12:50 and ready for service at 13:00

 

15/03   27/07/2003  Launch 19:17     Remoored 20:15   Weather SW f 4 good Vis mod sea             Crew:   Ian Sheridan (Cox), Redmond L Walsh, Fergal Walsh, Máire Scanlon, John Roberts, Peter O'Shea.

Launched to the aid of an 8m FV "Joseph Lister" taking water 2m S of Roches Point. Crosshaven LB first on scene and stemmed flow. Crosshaven LB then took vessel in tow to Crosshaven. Ballycotton LB was then stood down. Arrived back at station at 19:55 and ready for service at 20:15

 

14/03   21/07/2003  Launch 11:05    Remoored 21:50   Weather: SW f 4 Vis 10 miles                        Crew: Redmond L Walsh (2nd Cox), Michael L Walsh, Fergal Walsh, Richard Walsh, Aidan Sliney, Kieran Lynch.

Launched to the aid of a MFV taking on water 58 miles SW of Ballycotton at 51' 04.604N 007' 59.664W. Rescue helo 117 was also scrambled and dropped a salvage pump onto the casualty. With both pumps working the leak was located and partially stopped enabling the casualty to make towards Kinsale. The LB met the casualty and escorted them to Kinsale which was reached at 18:20. Arrived back at station at 21:00 and ready for service at 21:50.

 

13/03  15/07/2003   Launch 02:00    Remoored 07:30   Weather: Dense fog / Calm                            Crew:   Ian Sheridan (Cox), Michael L Walsh, Redmond L Walsh, Máire Scannell, Aidan Sliney,  Niall O'Keeffe, Stephen Connolly, Padraig Finn.

Report of 3 red flares seen off Ballyandreen. Conducted search pattern from Ballycotton to Roches Point along with Crosshaven ILB. Fog at times down to 40 metres. Nothing found and stood down at 06:52. Lifeboat back at Ballycotton and ready for service at 07:30.

Launched to the aid of the MFV Rosses Fisher with engine failure 18 Miles East of Ballycotton. Established tow at 10:45, arrived Ballycotton 13:35. Lifeboat back at Ballycotton and ready for service at 14:00.

Launched to the aid of the 18' fishing boat "Dunlocha" with engine failure 1.5 miles S of Ballycotton Harbour. Established tow to Ballcotton arriving at 20:35. Lifeboat back at Ballycotton and ready for service at 20:45.

 

10/03  29/06/2003   Launch 13:19    Remoored           Weather   E f 4-5 Vis 12 miles                          Crew: Ian Sheridan (Cox), Michael L Walsh, Peter O'Shea, Máire Scannell, Aidan Sliney, Eolan Walsh, Kieran Lynch.

Launched to the aid of the vessel "Ross Imbhir" allegedly aground at Roches point. CG then informed that vessel was not aground but lost. Crosshaven ILB were already searching the area and had found nothing.

 

9/03   24/06/2003   Launch 21:35     Remoored 00:30  Weather: E f 1-2 Vis good                              Crew: Ian Sheridan (Cox), Michael L Walsh, Redmond L Walsh, Peter O'Shea, Máire Scannell, Stephen Connolly, Kieran Lynch, Padraig Finn.

Launched after a request from Crosshaven LB to tow a disabled Motor Yacht ("Polaris) from Roberts Cove to Crosshaven. As the boat was some 35 tonnes, it was too heavy for the ILB.Arrived on scene at 22:15 and towed to Crosshaven. Lifeboat back at Ballycotton and ready for service at 00:30

 

8/03   22/06/2003   Launch 16:30    Remoored 18:00  Weather: SW f 4 - 5 Heavy swell                     Crew: Redmond L Walsh (2nd Cox), Cathal Nolan (Fleet Mech), Fergal Walsh, Máire Scannell, Aidan Sliney, Padraig Finn, Eolan Walsh.

Launched to report of a missing diver, 1/4 mile NE of Ballycotton Lighthouse. informed on arrival that the diver was last seen at 14:15. A search of the area commenced with the aid of Youghal ILB and the CG Helicopter with no result. The yacht "Oyster Catcher" on passage, spotted the divers red emergency marker at 51'48N 007' 59W. Crew member Eolan Walsh entered the water to support the diver and Youghal LB recovered the casualty and then transferred to CG helicopter. The diver made a full recovery in Hospital. Lifeboat back at Ballycotton and ready for service at 18:00

 

7/03   13/06/2003   Launch 21:10    Remoored 22:45  Weather:                                                        Crew: Redmond L Walsh (2nd Cox), Darren Scully, Peter O'Shea, Máire Scannell, Aidan Sliney, John Roberts.

Launched to the aid of an 8.5m pleasure boat "Gay Gamba" with engine failure, 1 mile west of Capel Island. Tow established to Ballycotton. Lifeboat back at Ballycotton and ready for service at 22:45

 

6/03   09/06/2003   Launch 09:18     Remoored 12:10  Weather SE f 5-6 Vis 2 miles                          Crew: Ian Sheridan (Cox), Redmond L Walsh, Peter O'Shea, Máire Scannell, Stephen Connolly.

Launched to the aid of MFV "Severence" with fouled propeller a quarter of a mile off Power Head on a lee shore. Arrived on scene 09:52, by which time a partial clearance of the propeller allowed the casualty to make way. LB escorted casualty to Cobh. LE Ciara also stood by during the operation. Lifeboat back at Ballycotton and ready for service at 12:10

 

5/03   15/04/2003   Launch 18:00    Remoored 00:30  Weather: SW f 3  Hazy                                   Crew: Ian Sheridan (Cox) Michael L Walsh, Aidan Sliney, Máire Scannell, Niall O'Keefe, Brian Motyer, Peter O'Shea, Padraig Finn.

Whilst on exercise with the Coastguard Helicopter, monitored distress call from MFV "Mary J" at position 51'36 04N 008'12 00W with fouled propellor. CG tasked LB to scene and arrived 19:15. Established tow and made for Cobh. 20:10 tow line parted and reestablished at 20:20. Casualty in Cobh at 23:05. Launched to the aid of a small lobster boat off Ballycotton Pier and towed back to Harbour.

Launched to the aid of the MFV "Mair Einne" with gearbox failure 20 miles East of Ballycotton. On scene at 13:05 and established tow to Helvic, arriving at 15:30. Lifeboat back on station 17:20

Launched to the MFV "Glenravel" with engine problems. arrived on scene 04.55 and established tow to Cobh arriving at 08:30. Lifeboat back on station 09:30

Pagers activated by MRCC Dublin at 06.10, Launched to the MFV "West Bound" with fouled propellor 20 miles East of Ballycotton. On scene 07:30 ans established tow to Ballycotton at 6 knots arriving at 11:15
